Easy peasy! Just follow the steps below:

  1. Go to https://www.wagstays.com
  2. Enter your locality or area, your travel dates and hit the “Search” button
  3. Browse boarding homes in your area. You can narrow your search within a kilometer radius, or by selecting the service type or on the basis of specific skills that you may need
  4. Select a profile that seems like a good match to learn more about them
  5. Read reviews, browse photos and when you’ve found someone great for your dog, simply send them a booking request. Don’t worry you don’t have to pay anything at this point
  6. Once a host accepts the booking request, only then you need to make the payment to confirm the reservation. We recommend sending a booking request to two or Four hosts when beginning your search. That way, you’ll have multiple options to choose from when you’re beginning your search

Information provided by every sitter who lists their services on WagStays has been individually reviewed by WagStays. Sitters must be at least 18 years old, build a profile with details about their pet care experience, and upload photos. That information then undergoes a thorough review by the WagStays Sitter Team.

As pet parents ourselves, we know your dog is a member of your family and we want you to feel confident in your choice of sitter. In addition to our internal reviews of all sitters, we may conduct any of the following activities to help you make the right decision for you and your dog, including:

  • General background checks for sitters.
  • Requiring new sitters to take a safety quiz before listing their services on WagStays.
  • Verified reviews from pet parents like you.
  • Ongoing educational opportunities so sitters and dog walkers have the tools they need to offer world-class care.
  • The WagStays Guarantee for all stays and walks booked through WagStays.

For privacy reasons, WagStays doesn’t display a sitter’s contact information until you’ve booked with them. If you’ve started a conversation on WagStays with a sitter but haven’t yet booked a service, they may choose to share their phone number and address with you—especially if you decide to arrange a Meet & Greet.

After you‘ve booked and paid for a service, you can find your sitter’s contact information on the itinerary. You’ll get a confirmation email after booking with your itinerary attached.

As a guest, an “Accepted” booking request means that your host is available to host your pet for the mentioned dates. Once they’ve accepted the booking request, you will be notified instantly and will be requested to make the payment. Only once you’ve made the payment, the booking becomes a confirmed booking and your calendar gets updated accordingly. An “Accepted” booking does not mean a “Confirmed” booking unless you have made the payment.

It is encouraged to make the payment as soon as a booking has been “Accepted” as during this period, the host may accept other requests too and the slot may get filled up by other guests who make the payment first.

Important: Booking and paying on WagStays is required, per our Terms of Service. Never pay by cash or check—this could expose you to fraud and makes your stay ineligible for the WagStays Guarantee and 24/7 support.

We get it—sometimes plans change and you may need to modify your upcoming stay after it’s already been confirmed or accepted. No problem! If you need to change dates or modify pets for a booking, just reach out to us at bark@wagstays.com and we’ll have it sorted

At the time of sending a booking request or confirming a reservation, you’ll notice that we charge a small amount of commission. This amount helps us to:

  1. Pay for costs incurred to run, maintain and improve the Wagstays platform
  2. Offer the WagStays Guarantee upto Rs. 10,000 per pet
  3. Pay our humans their salaries
  4. To onboard new hosts and conduct verification exercises for them
  5. Any marketing activity that may be conducted

What if my sitter cancels the booking?

While it’s not ideal, every once in awhile a sitter may need to cancel a booking. Don’t worry—we’ve got your back.

  1. You will be refunded in full. If your sitter is for whatever reason unable to watch and initiates a cancellation, you’ll see a full refund to your account.
  2. Your host will be re-assigned. If your sitter cancels within seven days of the first day of the booking, we’ll do everything we can to help find you a replacement sitter.

The WagStays Guarantee reimburses members of our community for costs arising from certain injuries, medical attention or damages that occur during a service booked and paid through WagStays. The injuries or damages must result from care provided during a WagStays stay, and the Guarantee reimburses in the event the sitter or walker is unwilling or unable to pay those costs.

Keeping your calendar up to date is an important part of managing your business on WagStays. As a pet owner, it's pretty frustrating to contact a sitter who is marked as available, only to discover that they are actually unavailable. Keeping your calendar accurate will help you receive requests you can accept, and the more requests you accept, the better your booking rate will be—and the better your booking rate, the more likely it is that dog owners will choose you as their next sitter.

To update your calendar once, like you would for a vacation, do the following:

  1. Select the day you want to edit on your calendar, or click and drag your mouse to edit multiple dates at once. This will mark the date(s) as blocked.
  2. To unblock the dates, just click on the gray bar and it will automatically unblock and free the date(s)

When a guest sends you a booking request, you will receive an email and sms notification informing you of the same. All your booking requests can be found in your Inbox. To view details for a booking request and to accept or decline one, simply click on the specific request and in the booking summary, you can find two options - Accept and Decline.

You may have multiple requests for the same date range but only the one that gets confirmed will get updated on your calendar.

Your payments are released to the bank account number you had submitted at the time of joining as a host. The payout is initiated from our end 24 hours after the pet has successfully checked in to your home.

Paying and communicating through WagStays is not only a requirement in our Terms of Service—it also protects you and your guests. Here’s how:

  • Safe and secure payments. Our payment platform is designed to protect credit card and personal information through standard encryption measures. Paying through WagStays is cashless, convenient, and keeps your personal details safe and secure. Accepting payments or paying outside of our system can put you at risk for fraud.
  • Simple and effective messaging. When you communicate with guests through your WagStays account, you have the peace of mind of our built-in security features. Plus, it’s easy to use—you can book services, work out stay details, schedule Meet & Greets, and get paid securely, and share photos, all through your WagStays account.
  • The WagStays Guarantee. When you book and pay through WagStays, you’re covered by the WagStays Guarantee—that’s peace of mind for sitters and pet parents alike.

Rarely, some people may choose to use our system to take advantage of dog owners or sitters. If you receive a message you think is suspicious, or someone asks to pay or communicate outside of WagStays, report the conversation by letting us know.

Paying and communicating through WagStays is essential to ensuring a safe and secure experience. In fact, it's so important to everyone's security that we made it a requirement in our Terms of Service.

But beyond being a requirement, when a payment takes place outside of WagStays, we won't have a record of it. That means your booking won't be covered by the WagStays Guarantee or our 24/7 support team. Accepting payments outside of WagStays could also lead to account suspensions for both the host and the guest.

So, if someone asks to pay you directly—whether that’s via check, cash, wire transfer, or a payment website other than WagStays—say no and remind them that paying through WagStays keeps everyone’s information secure.

WagStays offers the WagStays Guarantee for all services booked through WagStays. Simply put, the WagStays Guarantee is our commitment to you in the rare instance that something goes wrong during a booking. The WagStays Guarantee reimburses members of our community for costs arising from certain injuries to the WagStays pet or resident pet that occur during a service booked and paid through WagStays.

Coverage Doesn't Include:

  • Damage to the host or the host's property
  • Injury to the pet care provider or pet owner, or someone related to or residing with the pet care provider or pet owner.
  • Treatment costs for preventive care, or medical or veterinary bills resulting from an illness or a chronic or pre-existing condition
  • Injury or damage that arises during a Meet & Greet or otherwise outside of the service dates of a confirmed WagStays booking
  • Preventable conditions such as fleas, ticks, or parasites
  • Bookings made outside of WagStays.com.
